Guide to the plate
The stroke
Tap a node to set the nib, then tap a neighbouring node to walk the span between them. A walked span turns to ink and can never be walked again. The plate closes when every required span is inked.
Toll gates
A brass ring is a toll house. You may only enter it once a single open span remains at that node — so reach it from the last side you ink.
Dry spans
A wax dashed span is already drawn on the record. Walk it and the line breaks: the run fails. Dry spans are decoration, never a route.
Dipping the pen
Some plates cannot be inked in one stroke. Press Dip the pen to lift the nib, then tap any node to set it down again. Each dip costs one tap, and the allowance is printed on the plate.
Scoring
Par is the proven minimum: every span plus the fewest possible dips.
Par taps earns three stars, par + 2 earns two, anything else one.
Ink pays for itself: 15 ink squares a plate for one spare dip.
